Importance of Location

Let me start off by saying, I know these aren’t the most seductive dresses but the way they have been captured gives them that sort of feeling. Captured by an art director/fashion photographer who goes by the name of Vasilis Topouslidis.

We sometimes forget how important it is to choose a good location for our fashion photos and so I have selected these images to show you how it can be done (sometimes). I am in love with the background used on the first picture, the wall looks great and helps to soften the tones of the model which then  draws our attention to the outfits.

All these images are great because of how the outfits have been presented by selecting dark places to stage them. Would you do a shoot using a similar environment? What are your thoughts on the overall styling.

Match Game

Yet another set of awesome from the fashion editor known as Cloe Legault, these wonderful images tell a story of matching colours and simplicity. The great element that makes this whole presentation great for me would have to be the warm atmosphere set by the lighting. This brings out the colours of each item and even more when matched with the hand bag.

What are your views on these beauties?

Colour Play

An awesome play between the background color and the outfits are well executed by the awesome fashion photographer Naya Nurindra of Mint studio jkt. These photos were taken for a fashion design studio known as “the oxygenmask”, the series of photos branded as “Journey to Babel.

I like the idea use here as each color manipulation draws the viewer’s attention to the outfit. This is an example of creative narration using photos. The beautiful model plays a big part in bringing these outfits to life as her posses give them a more desired effect.

Afro couture

An awesome selection of African wear by Monique Pawirosemito who happens to be a creative director based in Amsterdam. The things that make these items of clothing beautiful in my point of view are the beautiful patterns, exquisite color and overall styling according to each individual.

Being from Africa myself I’ve always loved the fact that each item of clothing is custom made according to the wearer, which I think obviously makes you stand out from the crowed. I’ll be writing more on this topic in the future as I have even more great photos. Which is your favourite and would you attempt to dress like this?

A beautifully designed dress

A collaborative project featuring a designer (Yimei Ye), a model (Amber Fay) an MUA (Vivi Chan) and a photographer known as Yanzhou Bao. I wanted to highlight all those involved because of how striking these series of images are.

They have all worked extremely well in bringing out the best of this outfit by selecting the right type of lighting, environment, model and make up. The simplicity of colours within this image makes it even more interesting as the dress becomes the focal point of my attention. HOpe you manage to draw a few tips on how to present your clothing designs from these images.
